Dr. Anderson served in the Army of the United States for 5 years (1941-1946) during which he was a prisoner of war for 3-1/2 years. He was awarded the Bronze Star from the US Army, the Bronze Star from the US Navy, the Bataan Medal from the State of New Mexico, and the Combat Medical Badge, 1941-1946. Dr. Anderson also received the Sikorsky "Wing" for Helicopter Rescue in 1958.
Dr. V. V. Anderson was born April 17, 1908 in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from Victor High School (Colorado) in 1926, and with an AB Degree from the University of Colorado in 1932.
In 1935 he was awarded a medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. From June 1935 - January 1937, he served his hospital internship at Denver General Hospital at Denver, Colorado. For two months in 1947, he attended the New York Polyclinic in New York City and attended the Cook County Postgraduate school for operative surgery in 1950.
Dr. Anderson died on April 26, 1967 in Denver, Colorado and was buried at Del Norte Cemetery, Rio Grande, Colorado.
