Samuel Thomas "Tom" Brown

Death: Feb. 23, 2012

BALDWYN - Samuel Thomas "Tom" Brown died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at his home after a brief illness. He was born May 19, 1935, in Prentiss County to Henry and Minnie Akers Brown. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Baldwyn and a Mason. He was a factory worker, timber cutter, cattleman and hog raiser. Known to most as "Pop Sam," he will be remembered for his quick wit and his hardworking habits.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waters Funeral Home with Bro. David Haynes, Bro. Tom Blanchard and Bro. John Wayne Bridges officiating. Masonic burial service will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery following the service.

He is survived by his wife, Ella Earnestine Brown; nine children, Billy Roberts (Karen), Benny Roberts (Deborah), Buddy Roberts (Sheila), Betty Pannell (Louie), George Brown (Missy), Bonny Baldwin (Verne), Bobby Justice (Randall), Bessy Roberts and David Brown (Carol); 35 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby Reeves.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his two sons, Madge Nunley Brown; his parents; one grandson, Nick Croteau; two infant brothers; and two sisters, Mae Stephens and Lela Reeves.

Pallbearers will David Brown, Buddy Roberts, Billy Roberts, Louie Pannell, Verne Baldwin and Randle Justice.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Roberts, Steve Roberts, C.J. Roberts, Brian Roberts, Eric Roberts, Cody Follin, Daniel Buse, Shane Baldwin, Blake Nichols, Bryson Coats, Matthew Justice, Alex Croteau and his Masonic brothers.

Memorials may be made to Nick Croteau Scholarship Fund at Farmers Merchants Bank or Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Waters Funeral Home.
