Luella graduated from Montclair State Normal School (now Montclair State University) in 1952 with a degree in teaching. She taught in Neptune City, New Jersey, for a few years before retiring to get married and have children. She never returned to full time teaching, but she served as the Director of Christian Education at her church for many years in the 1960s and 1970s.
In 1974 she moved to Lock Haven, PA, and there married Bob Ohl. They lived for many years in an historic house in a rural area of Bald Eagle Township, just outside Lock Haven.
Luella was a dedicated Christian and a talented musician. She spent the last two decades of her life as the organist and piano accompanist at Laurel Run United Methodist Church, Beech Creek, Pennsylvania.
