John was born in Sinton,TX,before moving to Houston.
He enlisted in the Marines during 1951 and served in Korea,during the Korean War.
John was stationed in Honshu,Japan,when he re-enlisted in the Marines 24 August 1962,in Atsugi Kanagawe.
Upon arriving in Vietnam he was assigned to H&S Company,3rd Battalion,3rd Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.
SSgt Cordova died of fragmentation wounds to his upper extremities and neck from mortar fire,during Operation Harvest Moon in the Phauc Valley,vicinity of Vinh Huy(1)and Chu Lai.
Tour of duty unknown.
SSgt Cordova served his country for 14 years.
