James was born in Saint Matthews,SC,prior to his parents moving to Philadelphia,PA.
James was an only son.He graduated May 1966, from Overbrook High School.
Prior to graduating from high school,James had already enlisted in the Marines 19 May 1966 in Philadelphia.
James graduated from boot camp training with Platoon 3114,from Parris Island MCRD.
Arriving in Vietnam,James was assigned to
2nd Platoon,Echo Company,2nd Battalion,
3rd Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.
James died as a result of a multipe gunshot wounds to the back,entering the left scapule and exiting left auxillary lacerating left arm,
left anterior chest apex and left thorax from
rifle fire,during an NVA assault on Hill 881N,
vicinity of Huong Ha,about 8 kilometers west northwest of Khe Sanh Airfield,during Operation Beacon Star.
James was single and served his country for 11 months and 14 days.KIA#11,833.
James was 21 years,1 month,13 days old.

"When I heard about James,I cried.Him and I sat next to each other in English and Math together.We helped each other out.He was good in English and I was good in Math.He was a real nice guy.I can still see his face.I have been to the WALL and have shed my tears for him.So young.He must have enlisted after graduation.God be with you James and I hope to see you one day." Laura,a classmate.

Survived by his mother;Gladys Anderson,of 4244 Westminster Avenue,Philadelphia,PA.

Father;Ezel Anderson,deceased at the time.
