Charles was born in Ridgeway,MO,prior to his
family moving and settling in Bethany.
He enlisted in the Marines 4 May 1966 at the
Kansas City Recruiting Office.
Upon arriving in Vietnam he was assigned to
1st Platoon,Echo Company,2nd Battalion,3rd
Marine Regiment,3rd Marine Division.
Charles died of multiple gunshot wounds to
the head and posterior thorax from hostile
rifle fire and from multiple fragmentation
wounds to the right leg,right foot and left
leg with amputation from hostile mortar fire,
while Echo Company was engaged with enemy
forces in the vicinity of Huong Hoa,Hill 881N,
8 kilometers west northwest of at Khe Sanh
Airfield,during Operation Beacon Star.
Charles was single and served his country for
1 year.KIA#11,844.
He was 20 years,3 months and 21 days old.
Survived by his father;Charles Clyde Davis,of 1005 Boulder,Des Moines,IA.
His mother;Etta Edwards Davis Willis and his
sister;Clydas Janell of 802 W Main,Bethany,
MO.
