Obituary:
KARI BAKKE (nee Lone) of Assiniboia, SK, passed away February 23, 2012, at age 102. Kari was born in Roldal, Norway, on August 20, 1909, to Lars Lone and Torbjorg Selland Lone. She immigrated to Canada in February 1929 and went to work for farm and town families. In 1935 she married Reinhart Bakke. Together they lived on the farm in the Scout Lake district and raised their family of two boys and one girl. When Reinhart passed on in 1959 Kari continued to live on the farm with the help of her children until her son Arthur took over the farm. At that time she moved to Moose Jaw for a while and then came back to Assiniboia where she remained. Kari is predeceased by her husband Reinhart, sons Arthur and Anders, daughter Jeanette and grandson Trevor. Kari is survived by daughter-in-law Dorellen; grandchildren: Joy (Ken) Hanson, Allan (Krista), Carol (Keith) Cairns, Marv (Candais), Dale (Lori), Steve (Sheryn); 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church, Assiniboia, SK on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 2:00 PM. Pastor Arden Barden officiating. Donations in Memory of Kari may be made to Assiniboia Union Hospital (South Country Health Care Foundation). Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK.
