Harley James Record, 84, Chanute, Kansas, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at his home.

Harley was born in Greeley, Kansas, on August 24, 1925, the son of Frank A. and Gertrude Ann (Burson) Record. He was the youngest of eight children.

He served his country in the United States Army 13th Armoured Division during World War II.

He was united in marriage to Shirley (Peterson) Osburn in April 1964. She survives, of the home.

Harley owned and operated his own construction business in Chanute for many years before retiring.

He was a member of American Legion Post 170, V.F.W Post 1654, the Masonic Lodge and the Mirza Shrine.

Along with his wife, Shirley Record, he is survived by three daughters, Deedra Perez and husband, Mario, Chanute, KS, Tonya Ely and husband, David, Chanute, KS, and Alisa Record Almond, Mountain Home, AR; two sons, Kevin Record and Steve Osburn, both of Houston, TS; grandchildren, Mikhail, Macy, Madison, and Delaney Perez; Brian, Blair, and Bethany Ely; Anthony and Timothy Mugrage, and Jennifer Mugrage-Burt, Mark and Marshall Barnhart, and Marlana (Barnhart) Jones, Gracia and Kelleigh Record, and Shawn, Amy, and Ashley Osburn; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who were very dear to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three children, Gary Record, Harlee Kay Record, and Marsha (Record) Barnhart; brothers, Harold, Howard Jack, and Donald Record; and sisters, Nila Record St. Hillair, Maxine Record Patterson, Dorothy Record Bricker, and Marie Record.

Funeral service will be Friday, Nov. 6 at the Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials in his name may be made to Horizon Hospice or Shriners Childrens Hospitals and may be left with the funeral home.
