Obituary for Julius Arnold:
Elberton Star (Elbert County, Georgia) -- January 25, 1906
Mr Jule Y Arnold is dead. He was found dead in bed Sunday morning, death having claimed him several hours before. The discovery was made by the butler who went to his room early in the morning for the purpose of building a fire. He called him and failing to get an answer called members of the family who were startled and heartbroken over their find. When found he was lying in a natural position and it is thought by his physician that while asleep a hemorrhage came on and being in a weakened condition he died without a struggle. Mr Arnold had been a sufferer with consumption tor several years. About five years ago while keeping books to for his father and uncle, he contracted a case of pneumonia which settled on his lungs and he immediately began to sink. To thwart the work of the dread disease he went west, remaining there for a year. He returned much improved, but afterwards relapsed. He went to New Mexico again but it did not prove very beneficial. He then returned again to his native home. He was the oldest son of Mr McAlpin Arnold. He was twenty-seven years of age. He is survived by his father and sisters; Mrs H Jordan and Mrs Zack W Copeland and a brother, Mr Carter Arnold. The funeral services were conducted at the home on Heard Street Tuesday afternoon Dr R J Bigham conducted the services. Interment took place in Elmhurst. The pall bearers were: H B Swearingin, J H Blackwell, J W Black, George E Heard, P H Smith and J H Seymour.
