Laura was buried next to her civil war veteran husband and minister Reverend George Bragg. George was a member of the 40th Indiana Volunteer Infantry and lost his hand at the battle of Missionary Ridge on November 23rd, 1863. Laura died Friday afternoon at 2:20. She and George were charter members of the Hazel Dell Friends Church. She was one of thirteen children born to John and Mary Rush. She married Reverend Bragg on April 12th 1877. Son William died in 1934. Son Frank died in 1936. Survivors were Mrs. Maude Fields, Mrs. Pearl Morrison, Mrs. Oliver Shaw, Mrs. Iva Snyder, Mrs. Ethyl Smith, and John B Bragg. Laura had a foster brother names L.A. Willis. Her mother was Mary A Boozer Rush born 1822, died 09/22/1917 at age 95. Laura's father was David Rush who settled in Tipton County in 1867 as a farmer in Wildcat Township. Laura's maternal grandfather was Jacob Boozer of Germany who immigrated into NY and worked as a tailor. Laura's maternal Grandmother was Agnes Linerd Boozer.

Mrs. Laura (Rush) Bragg beloved resident of the Hazel Dell community, for many years and with her late husband, Reverend George Bragg, civil war veteran, one of the charter member of the Hazel Dell Friends Church, died at her come in that community Friday afternoon at 2:20 p.m. Death ended a six months' illness from hear trouble, the last two of which she had been confined to her bed.
The body will lie in state at the home three miles Southeast of Windfall, until the hour of services. Friends may call at any time.
The funeral will be held at the Hazel Dell Friends Church, Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with Reverend Polly Couch-Bowman of Hemlock, a lifelong friend, assisted by Reverend Charles Thomas, pastor of the Hazel Dell Church officiating.
Burial will be besides the husband in the Phlox cemetery.
Mrs. Laura (Rush) Bragg was born in Henry County, March 24th 1856, being one of sixteen children born to David and Mary Rush, and came to the Hazel Dell community with her parents when a small child. She was the last member of her family.
April 12th, 1877 she was united in marriage to Reverend George Bragg, and for years they resided in the Hazel Dell community. The husband died seven years ago and a son, William in 1934, and another son Frank in 1936.
Surviving relative are six children, Mrs. Maude Fields and Mrs. Pearl Morrison of Windfall; Mrs. Oliver Shaw of Elwood; Mrs. Iva Snyder of Tipton; Mrs. Ethel Smith of Kokomo; and John B. Bragg of Swayzee. There are also a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Residents of the Hazel Dell community will sorely miss this splendid mother and grandmother who for years has been one of the best known and loved women in the county.

Rev. and Mrs. George Bragg entertained at their home South East of Windfall for New Year's dinner. Mrs. Edith Martin and children Bernice, Ella Mae, Isabelle, Katherine and Richard of Center, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ramey and children Mary Maxine and Richard of Windfall, Mrs. Mary Bragg and Fern Bragg. Rev. Bragg who celebrated his 87th birthday Monday, Jan 3, is not in very good health this winter.

Bragg Family Reunion held at WINDFALL

The 29th annual Bragg family reunion was held at the country home of Mr. and Mrs. 'D. R. Brady, northwest of Windfall, with 91 members of the family present. A basket dinner was served at noon. During the afternoon, a program of readings and songs was presented. Mrs. D. R. Brady, chairman, and Miss Alice Morrison were in charge of the program. A business session was conducted by the president, D. R. Brady. The secretary's report was read by Mrs. Dale Downs. Officers were elected as follows: Everett Lane, of Hoopeston, Ill., president, and Mrs. Lane, secretary-treasurer. The next reunion is planned at Hoopeston, Ill. the third Sunday in July, 1948. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Bragg of Sheridan were the oldest couple present, Mrs. Frank Bragg of Herbst was the oldest woman and Charles Kelly of Sheridan, 4 months, was the youngest present. The remainder of the afternoon was spent playing contests and games. Persons were present from Indianapolis, Sheridan, Noblesville, Swayzee, Kokomo, Windfall, Sharpsville, Tipton and towns in Illinois.
