James Albert Nelson Harris was born in August 1838 to Samuel Harris and Elizabeth Longfellow Conn. He was born in Morgan County , Pennsville Ohio. He married Catherine Thompson in 1861. James was 21 years old and Catherine was 16 years of age. By the 1870 census they already had 2 sets of twins born , the 1st set were boys born 1861 and the 2nd set born 1862. Both sets of twins died shortly after birth. They had George by 1864, Nettie 1865, Robert 1866, Elizabeth 1867, and Albert 1868. These children were all born in Ohio. Betwee 1868 and 1870 they moved to Vernon, Wisconsin. Catherine was only 25 years old and she had already had 9 children. By the 1880 census they had made it to Benton County Arklansas in the Flint township. James was 42 and Catherine was 33. Catherine had by this time 5 more children, Charles 1872, Clara 1874, Charlotte 1876,and another set of twins born 1878,they were Esmeralda, (Died young) and Estella . Estella was the only twin to live to adult hood.Thomas Nelson Harris was born 1887. On the 1900 census in Cleburne County, Arkansas they have 11 children still living and they have been married for 40 years. On the 1920 census James is listed as a widow living with one of his daughters and is 81 years old.
