He was the son of Walter and Christiana GOLDSMITH and lived in Napanoch, NY. He was listed as a farm laborer on the 1860 US Census Town of Wawarsing, Ulster County, NY P.O. Napanoch. He was also listed on the 1850 US Census at Wawarsing, Ulster co, NY. He was one of 10 children.
