John Sidney Deaver was the son of Clarence Raymond Deaver and Lola Maude Cummings Deaver, who are also buried here at Little River cemetery.

John Sidney is named after his Grandfather John Morgan Deaver who is also buried at Little River and his Uncle Alfred Sidney Peteete who is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Johnny drowned at the age of 13 when attempts to save him from the fast moving water failed. Others almost drowned in the attempt as well. None of his seven siblings who were there at the time knew how to swim.

According to his oldest sister Laura Mae Peters: "Johnny was too good to live. When all the other kids were outside playing after school, all Johnny ever wanted to do was lay across his bed and read and study his Bible."
