A celebration of the life of Gloria Blasingame, 75, of Galveston, will be at 11 a.m. today, January 25, 2008, at the chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview, with the Rev. Michael Boaldin officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Services are under the direction of Lakeview Funeral Home of Longview.
Mrs. Blasingame passed away Monday, January 21, 2008, at her home in Galveston.
Ms. Gloria was born September 5, 1932, in Elkhart, Kansas, to Emory and Helen Boaldin. Raised in Fort Worth, Ms. Gloria moved to Longview with her husband, William Blasingame in 1968 and called Longview her home until she retired in Galveston in 2005 with her children. She cherished her family immensely. Gloria was a "best friend" to her children. She lived her life through her children's adventures, wanting to know every detail.
She also was a very avid baseball fan and kept stats on all the professional leagues. She could talk baseball. Gloria was of Baptist faith and believed in God and heaven and was a spiritual person. She was cherished by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Blasingame; and daughter, Gloria Lilly.
Ms. Gloria is survived by her children, Steve Hunt of League City, Julia Bieciuk of Galveston and William "Bill" Blasingame of Plano; brother, Emory Boaldin of Newark; and sister, Dixie Cotton of Fort Worth. She enjoyed the company of her nieces and nephews as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
