PLATTSMOUTH - 29 July 1869, p2 (2-3) SHOCKING CASE OF POISONING!
Robert Campbell, an old and respected citizen, the victim!
Tuesday last the following note was handed to Dr. Larsh by a neighbor of the deceased:
Dr. N. B. Larsh
Coroner of Otoe Co.
Dear Sir-The bearer Mr ..... will explain to you the circumstances of a very sudden death which leads to the belief that the person has been poisoned. The whole community desires an investigation by the Coroner.
Please attend to it at once.
Yours, & c., ......
Immediately upon the receipt of the note Dr. Larsh accompanied by his partner Dr. Hershey repaired to the late residence of the deceased, examined the body, summoned a jury and held an inquest. The following is the verdict of the jury.
"We the jurors believe from the evidence adduced. that the deceased, Robert Campbell, came to his death from the effects of poison supposed to be strychnine."
