Clair Moss Denning FORT MILL - Mr. Denning , 86, of Fort Mill, SC, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 8, 2012. He was born May 5, 1926, in Ogden, Utah. At the age of 16 he left the family ranch in the Bitterroot valley of Montana and joined the US Navy to serve during WW II. Following the war, Clair joined the Merchant Marine, and worked his way up to the chief engineer, installing coal-fired power plants in Korea, Pakistan, Vietnam, and Alaska for the US military. Clair retired in 1981 and moved his family from Alaska to Fort Mill, SC. He became involved in the ministry of PTL's Upper Room, where he was ordained and ministered to thousands. Paralyzed from the waist down the last eleven years of his life, Clair did not let tragedy slow him down. Even in a wheelchair, he spent time at the hospital ministering to others who had also been paralyzed. He often worked out at the Springs Complex and did what he could to live a full and complete life. His "can do" attitude was an inspiration to those who knew him. He deeply loved God, his family, and his country. He was so concerned about the future of this nation, that he left his deathbed to go to the poll and vote in the presidential election. Two days later he made his final trip to his heavenly home. Clair Denning was a highly respected man of God whose goal was to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to others. Clair will be much missed, but the many good seeds he planted during his life will continue to bring forth an abundant harvest. Clair is survived by his wife Jan, and daughter Judith Fleser of Fort Mill, SC. He is also survived by his three sons Roger and Paul of Washington, and Shaune of Fairbanks, Alaska. Other survivors include Mike Yates of Delta Junction, Alaska; Lorrie Yates Brooks of Delta Junction, Alaska; David and Debbie Fleser of California; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother Jay Denning in Washington State and his sister Mona Nielson from Utah. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 20, at Real Life Assembly, 1930 Pleasant Rd., Fort Mill, SC. Memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse (samaritanspurse.org).
