ANTIGO, Wis. -- Eunice P. Aucutt , age 84 of Antigo, WI, died July 30, 2004, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice at Cedar Creek Manor in Mosinee, WI.
She was born on April 10, 1920, in Yankton, South Dakota. She was the daughter of Rev. Ole M. and Clara (Stensland) Odland. On May 5, 1943, she was married to Donald Aucutt in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, by her father. Her husband preceded her in death on May 12, 2000.
She is survived by 2 sons, Donald Aucutt, Saulk City, WI, Richard (Cindy) Aucutt, Mosinee, WI; 1 grandson, Phillippe Aucutt, Wausau, WI; 1 daughter-in-law, Yuni Aucutt, Wausau, WI; 2 granddaughters, Sarah Aucutt, Chicago, IL, and Christina Aucutt, Portland, Oregon; 1 Brother, Dr. Paul (Barbara) Odland, Janesville, WI; 1 sister-in-law, Mary Odland, Luverne, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 1 sister, Maureen Moller, Dell Rapids, SD, 1 brother, Dr. Donald Odland, Luverne, MN and Dr. Olin Odland, Marshall, MN.
Eunice attended elementary and high school, for 3 1/2 years, in Yankton, SD, and graduated from Dell Rapids High School in 1937 as the family moved there during her senior year. She attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls for 2 years and earned a state certificate in elementary education in 1939. Following school she taught in the elementary schools. She continued her education and in 1964 received a Bachelor of Science Degree with a minor in English from the Sioux Falls University, Sioux Falls, SD. Eunice enjoyed her teaching career of 35 years with the last 23 years teaching in the Antigo area. Before Antigo, she taught in South Dakota and Minnesota as well as the Air Corp Technical School in Sioux Falls, SD.
In addition to teaching she enjoyed music, she sang in the choir at Calvary Lutheran Church, Antigo, and played piano at church and at home. She loved to dance and went to many dance clubs with her husband. She also enjoyed sports, especially Antigo High School football, Badger football and the Green Bay Packers. She liked watching her granddaughters compete in high school and college athletics, and her grandson play trumpet in the Wausau East Band and University of Wisconsin Madison Marching Band. Her family was the most important part of her life. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at Calvary Lutheran Church, Antigo, WI at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Kate Kraft will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home, 1550 Neva Road, Antigo, WI 54409; and on Wednesday from 10-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery, Antigo, WI.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Eunice's name to the Clara R. McKenna Aquatic Center, 111 Western Avenue, Antigo, WI 54409; or the Scholarship fund at Calvary Lutheran Church, 310 S. Superior Street, Antigo, WI 54409; or the Comfort Care and Hospice, 333 Pine Ridge Blvd., Wausau, WI 54401
