Maj. Darling Huntress Esq. was born at Berwick, York County, Maine, on 09 March 1756. He was the son of Darling Huntress and Love Hearl. Maj. Darling Huntress Esq. was baptized at First Church, Berwick, York County, Maine, on 15 March 1756. He married, first, at Second Church, Berwick, York County, Maine, on 13 January 1778, at age 21, Mary Warren, (both) of Berwick and sister of his sister Keziah's husband Aaron, and sister of his brother William's wife Elizabeth Rhoda, and sister of his cousin George's wife Jane, ceremony performed by Matthew Merriam. Maj. Darling Huntress Esq. (of Shapleigh) married, second, as her second husband at Wells, York Co, Maine, on 13 September 1801, at age 45, Dorothy Cousins, of Wells and widow of Hubbard, ceremony performed by Rev. Nathaniel H. Fletcher. Maj. Darling Huntress Esq. married, third, as early as in 1824, Phebe Chadburne. Maj. Darling Huntress Esq. died on 26 May 1839 at age 83. Maj. Darling Huntress Esq. was a mill owner. Maj. Darling Huntress Esq. was town treasurer. He served as an officer in the militia. Maj. Darling Huntress Esq. was a mason. He had entered on the proprietor's lands in Shapleigh before 1781 and built a house there and offered in that year to settle with the proprietors provided they would give him a 100-acre lot in the third division where his house stood. They assigned him the westerly half of lot 10, range 03 in the third division. He subsequently acquired other large tracts and was one of the leading townsmen. He resided at Shapleigh, York County, Maine, in 1781. His will dated 20 December 1834, proved 01 July 1839, mentions his wife Phebe Huntress and all his children, except Abigail, Levi, and Simon, viz.: children of his son Nahum, deceased, Noah Huntress, Martha Libbey, Levi Huntress, Darling Huntress, Jr., Simon Huntress and Dorothy Huntress, son Timothy Huntress, daughter Jane Ricker, son Asa Huntress, son Darling Huntress, if alive, daughter Lovey Ross, daughter Mary Linscott, daughter Eliza Ross, daughter Olive Garvin, son Otis Robinson Huntress. According to Hardon, information about their family is from their family Bible in possession, 1930, of Charles Otis Huntress, of Shapleigh, York County, Maine.
