Anna was born in Gniebel, Tuebingen, Wurttemberg, Germany, the daughter of Marx and Anna Maria (Grossman) Kern. She married Jakob Gaiser on February 23, 1832. They had two children, Jacob Herman and Anna Marie. Anna Marie was born September 27, 1835 and died July 31, 1837 in Gniebel. Husband Jakob was born July 19, 1802 and died March 5, 1839 in Gniebel.
Anna and her son Jacob came to America in 1848. They settled in the eastern states and later came west to Leavenworth. The family lived in a log cabin west of the area where Leavenworth was platted in 1854.
She died of apoplexy on July 8, 1861, and was laid to rest in the Van Winkle Cemetery on an adjoining farm. In 1909 the body was moved to Mount Muncie Cemetery.
