Woodrow was the son of Louie Charles Geier and Minnie Ola Parsons. He graduated from the University of Alabama and received a Ph.D and other degrees from Vanderbilt University. Woodrow was an ordained minister, taught at various universities in Tennesee, published numerous books and articles on religion and literature, and was director and board member of the Division of Higher Education, United Methodist Church in Nashville. He is listed in Who's Who and the Methodist Hall of Fame. Woodrow married Rosemary Parkman; their children were Janet Lynn, Gail Ellen and Carl David.
