By 1930, Gordon's parents were divorced and he now was living with his mother and 3 brothers at 838 North Curson Avenue, Los Angeles (Hollywood) CA, a duplex which Edna owned.
In California, he worked various jobs including a movie extra, golf caddy, auto mechanic and settled into being a Studio Grip for the motion picture industry. One of the most notable locations was Egypt to work on the movie The Ten Commandments in the early 1950's.
In 1936, Gordon married Tully Joyce Hearn (1914-1977). They had met on a blind date. They lived in Hollywood, sharing the duplex with his mother, and then they moved to 935 East Tujunga Ave., Burbank to raise their three daughters, Patricia, Susan and Cathy.
His hobbies were golf, painting, auto mechanic and photography. Gordon was very creative and very handy and could fix just about anything!
One morning a couple of weeks before he died, Gordon was found in the bed but in a coma. The day before he was playing golf which was his usual pass time in his retired years. He was hospitalized in Burbank and passed away never coming out of a coma on January 17, 1976.

In 2020, the 400th anniversary year of the the Mayflower's 1620 arrival at Plymouth Rock, the Palmer family was thrilled to learn that Gorden and his siblings are direct descendants of Mayflower passengers John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley by way of their oldest of ten children, a daughter named Desire. The Howlands are Gordon's 9th Great-Grandparents.

Gravesite Details
After cremation, the ashes were spread in the Rose Garden.
