"John William (Bill) Dinsmore, 89, of Indianapolis the past eight years, formerly of Route 2, Covington, and Perrysville area, died at 1:20 a.m. Sunday, January 5, at Americana Healthcare Center, Indianapolis. He had been ill since May 1985.
He was born January 6, 1896, in Edgar County, Illinois, the son of John Taylor Gilman and Ida Kenton Dinsmore. He married C. Margueritt Noland September 1, 1920, in Marshall. She died 8, 1968.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Benson Chapel United Methodist Church of Covington and a 50-year member of Perrysville Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed playing gin rummy and sports.
Surviving are: two sons, Mark, Covington, and William L., Danville; two daughters, M. Virginia Easley, Indianapolis, and Theresa M. Hall, Scottsdale, Arizona; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Deverter Funeral Home, Cayuga, with the Rev. Rick Pettys officiating. Burial was in Woodland Cemetery, Chrisman, Illinois. Masonic memorial services were held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
