Thank you for visiting my great-grandfather.
My great-grandfather was a Civil War soldier.
In 1861 at age 19, he did his first tour of duty with Company A, 68th Rigiment, Ohio Infantry.
In 1863, he did a second tour of duty with A/68th/Ohio. He was discharged from Vicksburg military hospital in 1863.
In 1865, he was in Sherman's March to the Sea. Medical discharge indicates he had rheumatism during both tours of duty and acquired an inflamation of the right shoulder and arm which rendered them functionally useless after the war.
My maternal great-grandfather. Married September 16, 1874 in Ingham Co., Michigan.
My great-grandfather was also a Michigan farmer, like his son after him. However, he became incapable of manual labor at age 47, due to war injuries. He had also apparently contracted lung disease in Vicksburg Civil War prison.
