Daniel M. Brauer, 83, of Jacksonville, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 3:05 am. He was born on December 15, 1927 in Springfield to Louis and Harriet (White) Brauer. He married Mary Lou Maloney on July 8, 1951 in Petersburg. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by a son, David (Denise) Brauer of Littleton, CO; two daughters, Sharon (Duane) Hess of Jacksonville, and Laura Brauer of Springfield; one grandson, Ross Brauer of Littleton, CO; four granddaughters, Mary Ann (Frank) Hatlestad of Englewood, CO, Carrie (Brian) Fank of Parker, CO, Vie Hodel, and Sydney Hodel, both of Springfield; a sister, Donna (Ed) Hayes of Jonesboro, TN; and two nieces, Kathy McInturf of Jonesboro, TN, and Melissa (Charlie) Applebee of Urbana, Illinios.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Fern (White) Brauer; and a brother, David Brauer.
Mr. Brauer had a career in education as a Vice Principal, teacher, guidance counselor, Director of Admission at Kankakee Junior College, and also worked for the Illinois Board of Education. He was a US Air Force veteran and he was a member of Laurel Methodist Church in Springfield.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. Rev. Ed Hayes will be officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. The celebration of life will continue in Jacksonville, where family and friends will be received.
