George (Gyrogy) Sabo (Szabo) was born in Esztro, Szatmar Region, Hungry (now Istrau, Satu Mare, Romania)which was part of the Austrian-Hungarian Empire. At 17 years old, he left his village in 1910 and sailed from Hamburg to New York landing at Ellis Island, NY on Feb 4, 1911. He remained in New York and married Mary (Maria) Borbely in Beacon, NY on Sept. 14, 1914. He moved to Detroit, MI in early 1922 and started work at Ford Motor Co on May 20 at the Highland Park Plant. He retired from Ford Rouge Complex in 1955. George and Mary had 10 children, 9 of which lived to adulthood. He moved to Clawson with his son and daughter where he lived out his remaining years.
