WESTON -- Bernard "Bernie" Eugene Franks, 84, Weston, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 13, 2008, at Bowling Green Manor. He was born Sept. 23, 1923, in Findlay, the son of Charles and Christina (Apel) Franks. In 1985, he married Doris Amos, who survives. He retired from Cooper Tire Co. in Findlay, then was a custodian for Otsego Local Schools and worked for 18 years in the maintenance department at the Woodland Mall, Bowling Green, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Weston Church of Christ and a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, serving during World War II. Also surviving are a stepson, Albert (Lori) Amos, Tulsa, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth (Ed) Johnson of Orlando, Fla., and Gretchen Amos, Coffeyville, Kan.; two brothers, Herbert (Goldie) of Findlay and James, Old Fort, N.C.; a sister, Katie (Don) Phipps, Inverness, Fla.; and four stepgrandchildren. Preceding him in death were two sisters, Maxine Smith and Goldie Phipps. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Weston Cemetery with Rev. Rick Broughton officiating and military honors accorded by members of the Ohio Army National Guard. There is no visitation. Handling arrangements is Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate. Preferred memorials are to Weston Church of Christ.
