George H. Stockman, 83, 2236 S. Ninth St., died Friday, Nov. 18, 1994, at Coshocton County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
He was born March 1, 1911, in Cohoes, N.Y., to the late Walter H. and Pearl (Kendrick) Stockman.
He was a World War II veteran, serviing as an Army private first class with the headquarters Company First Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment Second Infantry Division in Europe from June 18, 1941, to Nov. 21, 1945, where he received two bronze battle stars.
He was a U-bolt threader at the Massillon Spring and Rivet Co. for 18 years. Before retiring in March 1976, he was a router operator at General Electric in Coshocton for nine years. He also worked as a Somat operator at Coshocton High School after his retirement and until May 1981.
He was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Coshocton, Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees and the American Association of Retired Persons.
On June 5, 1960, he married Olive (Matheny) Wilson, who survives.
He is also survived by two stepsons, Dwight Fesler of Coshocton and W. Woodrow Wilson of Warsaw; two stepdaughters, Nancy Berkshire of Thomasville, Ga., and Delores Jane Potter of Frazeysburg; two brothers, Frank Stockman of Hayward, Calif., and C. John Stockman of Vail, Ariz., two sisters, Helen M. Snyder of Canton and Alcy Bonham of Millerburg; 10 stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
