Robert R. "Bob" Padgett, 97, of Muskogee, was born August 5, 1905 to John William and Iva (Pitts) Padgett at McLain, Indian Territory. He died, Sunday, February 2, 2003.
Mr. Padgett graduated from Connors College in 1925 and then attended Northeastern State University. He taught school for a number of years in Muskogee County. Bob was a rancher and auctioneer for many years in the Muskogee area until his retirement due to health. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Trinity #502, McAlester Consistory Temple. Bob always stepped up to help the Shriners when a burned child needed an air ambulance to be flown to the Galveston, Texas Burn Center for treatment.
Bob was also a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge #325, in Muskogee, past member of the Noon Lions Club, and a past member of the Farmers Association Board of Directors for several years. He was a honorary member of Muskogee FFA and 4H Club, of Muskogee County. Mr Padgett was the Auctioneer for the Porter Peach Festival for 35 years.
Bob married Zadie L. Keith, on November 13, 1931. She preceded him in death in 1996, after 65 years of marriage. They had no children. His parents; two sisters, Norma Pannell and Pauline Adair; two brothers, Charlie Padgett and George W. Padgett; and a dear friend and namesake, Robert D. Garrett, also preceded him in death.
He will be fondly remembered by a special family member, George N. Garrett, and his four children; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
A funeral service for Bob Padgett will be held, Thursday, February 6, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at the Boulevard Christian Church with Reverend James McCracken and Reverend Steve Moss officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
