Arthur Albert Guilmette was the son of Lucien and Malvina (Duval) Guilmette of Arthabaska, Quebec, Canada. He was christened as Joseph Arthur Guillemette, but naturalized in the United States as Arthur Albert Guilmette. He was a self-employed milk dealer in 1918 when he registered for service in World War I. He had brown hair and blue eyes. Pale blue eyes were characteristic of this Guilmette family. He was fondly remembered as Uncle Arthur by his brother's granddaughter.
