William Nesmith Brown died at his home in West Lafayette at 9:00 pm yesterday after five week illness with complications. He was 78 yrs. He was born in Uniontown, Pa in 1859, the son of Hugh and Phebe Brown, and was later a grocer their until he came to West Lafayette 16 yrs ago. He was married to Ruth Smith in 1887, and four children, all of whom survive, were born to the couple. The children are: Mrs Arthur Lacey, Newcomerstown; Hugh C Brown, Lash, Pa; David E Brown, West Lafayette, and Miss Emma H Brown, Edgewood, Pa. The widow and nine grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the home in charge of Rev. Harry J Young. Burial will be at Plainfield cemetery.
