Father Harold R. Feltman, age 77, of Ionia, MI, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2003. He was born on January 25, 1926 in Shepard, MI the son of Arnold and Josephine (Klaman) Feltman. Fr. Feltman attended St. Joseph's Seminary of Philosophy in Montreal and St. John's Seminary in Plymouth, MI. He was ordained on June 4, 1955 at St. Andrew's Cathedral in Grand Rapids. He served as Assistant Pastor at St. Francis Catholic Church in Traverse City and St. Simon's Catholic Church in Ludington. He Pastored St. Ann's Catholic Church in Frankfort and also St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Saranac. He later went on to become the Catholic Chaplain at the Ionia State Reformatory before retiring in 1989. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lucille Dill and Lucinda Smolek. Surviving are his brother, Elmer Feltman of Shepard; sisters, Donalda Kalmer of Shepard and Mary Ann (Norbert) Warniment of Miller City, OH; several nieces and nephews; dear friend, Gloria Hawkins and her family. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by The Most Rev. Robert J. Rose, Bishop of Grand Rapids and concelebrated by the Rev. Ron Warniment and Rev. Eugene Golas at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 22, 2003 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Ionia. The Rite of Committal will take place at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Cemetery in Shepard, MI at 3:00 p.m., Friday. The family will receive friends at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday. A Vigil Service will be prayed at 8 p.m., Thursday. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Guest House in memory of Fr. Harold R. Feltman.
