James Austin Bailey was born in Shongaloo, Lousiana. He was the son of John William Bailey and Alice Bell Wise. John and Alice are buried in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Shongaloo, Louisiana.

James met Auby Lucene Young and they were married in Webster Parish, Louisiana June 4, 1930. They were the parents of two sons, Bonnie James Bailey and David H. Bailey.

Bonnie James Bailey met and married Loretta Young and they had two daughters, Adrena Ann Bailey and Ronda Sue Bailey. Bonnie was killed in Arkansas in 1956.

David H. Bailey has two children, Carole Joanne Bailey and Robert Alan Bailey from his first marriage. David has one grand- daughter, Chelsea E. Gilbert Elgin.

James Austin Bailey 67, passed away at 2 p.m. Friday in Picayune, Mississippi. His funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Parkway Baptist Church, Minden, Louisiana.

Brother C. H. Land officiated at the service. Interment followed in the Minden City Cemetery, Minden, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Auby Lucene Bailey in 1969. They were married for thirty nine years before her death.

He is survived by his second wife, Grace Lee Poland Bailey. They had only married a short few years before his death.

James also, left behind one son, David Bailey; five brothers, Brooks Bailey, Sarepta, Jack Bailey, Dubach, Smith Bailey, Springhill, Howard Bailey, Shreveport, and Chester Bailey, Sarepta; two sisters, Myrtle Bailey and Irene Hough, Sarepta; four stepchildren, Peggy Monzingo, Joseph Miller, Virginia Miller, and T. J. Miller.

James was a farmer for a while before he went to work for The State Highway Department. He was employed with the State for twenty years before his retirement.

James was a great man and a member of Parkway Baptist Church, Minden, Louisiana.
