MISHAWAKA - Macon S. "Mack" Hanback, 79, of Mishawaka, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 6, 2011. Mack was born June 2, 1931, in Florence, Alabama, to the late John R. and Beadie Mae (Parrish) Hanback.

On April 9, 1952, Mack married Robbie Jo McClain. Robbie Jo survives along with three sons, Macon S. "Sam" Hanback Jr. of Mishawaka, Riley (Carol) Hanback of Roswell, NM, and James (Lisa) Hanback of Mishawaka. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. Mack is also survived by his sister, Sara Eiland of South Carolina.

He was preceded in death by his brother, John Hanback; and his sisters, Adell Smith, Rebecca Hanback, Avanell Hanback and Docia Ingraham.

Visitation will be held today, May 8, 2011, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola, from 2-6 pm. Funeral services will be held in Chapel Hill Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 9, 2011, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mack served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955 before his honorable discharge. He was employed for over 39 years at the Uniroyal Corporation in Mishawaka before his retirement. He had been a member of South Side General Baptist Church for 49 years as well. Mack was very family oriented and loved his grandchildren tremendously.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund at the South Side General Baptist Church, 1615 S. Spring Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544.
