Edna Goff Foltz was born November 16, 1900, in Evanston, Illinois, daughter of the Rev. Roy Goff and Rachel Whitehead Goff. She grew up in the Pittsburgh area where her father served various Lutheran congregations. While attending Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, she met Lewis F. Foltz whom she married June 6, 1925, at Aspinwall, Pennsylvania, the same year Lewis Foltz was ordained into the Lutheran ministry. She shared her husband's ministry for over fifty years, serving at various times as organist, choir conductor, church school teacher and women's leader. She served as President of the Women's Missionary Society of the former Allegheny Synod, United Lutheran Church in America. She taught piano for many years, and earlier, taught high school Latin. For seventeen years, she was organist at Veteran's Hospital in Philadelphia.
Edna Foltz passed from this side of life on December 21, 1977, at the age of seventy-seven years, one month, and five days. She leaves to mourn, her husband, Lewis; a son, Roy (Ruth) Foltz; two daughters, Susan (Mrs. Ralph) Tietbohl and Jane (Mrs. Harry) Strunk; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, and numerous other relatives and friends.
