John Gerald Black, former long time resident of Lexington, OK. died of a Parkinson's disease related stroke on May 10, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Care Facility in Eugene, Or. He was born April 20, 1930, to Homer and Jennie Black in Noble, OK., the fourth of eight siblings.

He graduated from Noble High School, and shortly thereafter, served two years in the Army where he achieved the rank of Corporal. After being trained as a tank mechanic, he became a carburetor specialist and eventually Shop Manager at American Electric Ignition Co. in Oklahoma City.

He married Martha Elizabeth Orr in 1956. John farmed, raised livestock and was always willing to provide a helping hand to anyone.In 1998 John moved from the Slaughterville area to Eugene, OR to be near his older daughter. He enjoyed fishing and sightseeing Oregon's forests and coastal areas with his family.

John was preceded in death by brothers Dempsey and Ronald Black and sister Tommie Bagwell. He is survived by his daughters and their husbands Jane Ann and Lance Williamson and Faye Lynn and Dale Victora, four beloved grandchildren Carrie and Christopher Williamson and Andrew and Elizabeth Victora. His surviving siblings include Mary Elson, Josie Blalock, Paul and David Black. In addition are numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Arc of Lane County 481 E. St. Springfield, Oregon 97478, in honor of the care and support of his grandson Christopher.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 24th 2 p.m. at Mcmahans' Funeral Home, 616 S 8th St. Noble. Graveside services will follow immediately after at Maguire Fairview Cemetery.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Noble following graveside services. Submitted by family
