Services were held in memory of Nathan Russeli Griffin at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 1997 in the Holman-Howe Chapel with Rev. Ed Ruble and Rev, Dean Davis officiating. Burial was in the White Oak Pond Cemetery under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon. Music was by Kenneth Howe and Gerry Hoke. Selections were "Amazing Grace" and "In The Garden."

Nathan Russell Griffin, son of Charles and Julia May Green Griffin, was born April 22,1913, in Laclede County, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, July 8, 1997, in Balanced Care Lebanon North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, two months, and six- teen days.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Clifford Griffin; a grandson, Judd Henry Smith; three brothers, Ulysses, Andersoa and Richard Griffin; and four sisters. Bessie Hoskins, Lori Waugh, Pearl Rogers, and Jessie Brown.
Russell is survived by five daughters, Roberta Smith, Marietta Lee, Judy Storie, Desdenoma Watts, and Erma Miller, all from out of state; eight sons, Nathan, Charlie, Ronald, Pete, Van Lee, Gregory, and Ernest Griffin, and Dallas Storie, all of out of state; nineteen grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; a sister, Marie Ford of Lebanon, Missouri; two brothers, Henry Griffin, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Bill Griffin, of Kansas City, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was bom and raised in the Lebanon area and continued to live there during his early adult years, and worked at farming. For several years, he made his home in Topeka, Kansas, where he worked in airplane maintenance at the Alien Airport. About ten years ago, he retired back to Missouri.
Russell followed the Baptist faith during his lifetime.
In his spare time he enjoyed music, and loved playing the banjo, mandolin, and guitar. He also liked riding horses.
Russell was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and many friends.
