Grave of Carl E. Alleman.
W. H. Alleman has received from the Red Cross a picture of his son's grave in France. On the big cross is the following; "26. C. E. Alleman, Cpl. Co. B, 1st Sig. Bat., USA". A letter has also arrived from the Graves Registration Service stating that Corp. Alleman's remains had been disinterred and reburied in grave 26, section 27, plot 1, cemetery 1232, Argonne American Cemetery, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Meuse. The letter further states: "Thousands of bodies have been transferred to larger and better cemeteries for reasons which were deemed imperative by the military authorities of all allied nations, and the great task of improving these cemeteries is well under way. The most diligent care has been excerised to insure accuracy, and this immense project is being carried through as unquestionable service to the friends of our dead."
