JACOB V. ALT; VETERAN OF SAPNISH-AMERICAN WAR (Special to the Vindicator)
Struthers, Dec 10--Jacob V. Alt, 76 of 437 Elm St., a Spanish-American War veteran, died of cancer at 1:30 a.m. today in Soldiers & Sailors Home, Sandsuky. He had been ill two years.
Mr. Alt was born March 23, 1882, in Reedtown, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth Alt. He came to Struthers in 1948 from Youngstown. He was a salesman for Gottschall Corp. of Pittsburgh, retiring in 1945 and was a member of Major Logan Camp No 26, United Spanish-American War Veterans. His wife, the former Cora Belle Ramsey, whom he married in 1903 died in 1944.
He leaves two sons, Russel of Struthers and Nobel R. of Boise Idaho; a daughter, Mrs. Alice DeNiro of Youngstown; three brothers, Frank in California, Fred of Attica and August of Mansfield; three sisters, Mrs. Wes Saul of Bucyrus, Mrs. Louise Kanney of New Wahington and Mrs. Forest Judy of Ridgeville, Ind.; eight great-grandchildren.
The body is at the D.A.Davidson Funeral Home.
