John LaBelle, 71 dies in Cedar Rapids
John LaBelle, 71, former Ottumwan and a retired Milwaukee railroad engineer, died at 6:30 pm Thursday at the Ziesman nursing home in Cedar Rapids.
He had been a resident of Ottumwa since birth until a year ago when he became ill.
The son of Mr. and Mrs Paul LaBelle, he was born in Ottumwa June 15, 1880. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, No. 538.
Surviving are his wife, Minnie, of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Anderson, Cedar Rapids, and a granddaughter, Marcia Anderson, Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a brother.
The body has been removed to the Johnson funeral chapel here, where services will be at 2:30 pm Saturday in charge of Dr. Marvin B. Kober of St. Paul's Methodist church in Cedar Rapids. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.

John and Minnie were married May 2, 1907
An infant son, Paul Scott LaBelle, died at birth 1909.
A daughter, Audrey Fay LaBelle was born June 23, 1919 in Ottumwa - died November 10, 2002 Apache Junction, Arizona

Mother: Anna (Annie) Fleming LaBelle (2nd wife) Annie was born July 29, 1846 in Ireland. Died Dec 31, 1913 Ottumwa, Iowa. Listed as living with John and Minnie in Ottumwa's 1910 census. Buried at Calvary Cemetery
