Realf T. Bestul, 93, a resident of Scandinavia Nursing Home, died at the nursing home at 1:15 p.m. Sunday. He had been in failing health for the past six months.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at Peace Lutheran Church Amherst, with the Rev. John Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Iola.
Friends may call at the Voie Funeral Home in Iola after 2 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Wednesday and from noon Wednesday until the time of the services at the church.
Mr. Bestul was born in the Town of Scandinavia Oct. 9, 1869, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ole Bestul.
After his marriage to Helen Rasmussen on Nov. 18, 1893 they moved, to the Town of Helvetia (Waupaca County) where they operated a farm and a sawmill. They moved to Amherst in 1945. His wife died in January, 1961.
He is survived by eight sons, Norman, Ogdensburg, Alfred, New London, Carl, Amherst, Alvin, Wisconsin Rapids, and Elmer, Harold, Jonas and Lawrence, all of Iola; two daughters, Mrs. Oscar (Ella) Johnson, Waupaca, and Mrs. Norman(Clara) Budsberg, Amherst; 24 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; one brother, Otto, Iola; two sisters, Mrs. Ole Aasen, Iola, and Mrs. Ed Lindaas, Mayville, N.
