Age 88, passed away at Theda Clark Hospital on Thursday July 25, 1974 at 3:45 pm. He was born in Preston, Lancashire, England on January 21 1886 and came to Neenah in 1905. In 1909 he became associated with Neenah Paper Company as bookkeeper and progressed to it's presidency in 1940. Well known in the paper trade circles, he served industry in various capacities; on the executive committee and president of the America Paper and Pulp Assn.; and as president of the Wisconsin Heart Assn. A founding trustee of the Institute of Paper Chemistry, director of the First National Bank of Neenah, a past member of the board of trustees of the First Presbyterian Church, a director of the Boys Brigade Assn., a founding director and president of North Shore Golf Club; a 32nd degree Mason, Knights of Templar. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Neenah. In 1954, Mr. Brown received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Lawrence University. He was preceded in death by a son, Gordon, in 1949 and his first wife, Nellie Price-Brown in 1957. Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Margaret; three daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Dorothy) Severson of Neenah, Mrs. Jack (Margaret) G. Rasmussen of Lakeland, Florida, and Miss Shirley Brown of Devon, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Gleave and Miss Edith Brown of Cleveleys, Lancashire, England; seven grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Interment will be in Oak HIll Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorial are being established for the Boys Brigade Assn., the Institute of Paper Chemistry and the Neenah-Menasha Assn., for Retarded Children.
Appleton Post Crescent - May 27, 2011 - The Paper Industry International Hall of Fame's membership roster will expand to 105 on Oct. 6 with the induction of five more paper industry notables. Among this year's inductees is Daniel Kevill Brown, who led Neenah Paper and was a founding trustee of the Institute of Paper Chemistry and active in various paper industry associations.

Dan K. Brown is the first vice president and general manager of the Neenah Paper company. He has lived in Neenah twenty-four years, twenty-one years of which he has been a paper manufacturer.
