Lucy Margelia Benton was the second child of George Washington Benton and Nancy E. Rhodes Benton. She was born on her father's homestead in Yocum, Carroll County, Arkansas. Her birth was recorded in the Family Bible. Hugh Benton, her nephew, hand copied the family record from the Family Bible on August 29, 1958, which was in the possession of Mrs. Thelma Jamison, of North Hollywood, California. Lucy Margelia "Megie" also appears in the 1900 Census along with her daughter Thoro. In addition, she is on the Mormon familysearch website, listed with Albert Austin, her brother, as the children of George Washington Benton and Nancy E. Rhodes Benton. Sarah Jane Benton Kerns, the oldest sister, is not included on familysearch, so whoever the contributor was had information only about the four people listed. Anyone with further information concerning Lucy Margelia Benton or Thoro please contact me. We would like to know what became of her and her daughter.
