A native of Carencro and a resident of Lafayette, Goldie Comeaux was the founder and owner of Mulate's, "The Original Cajun Restaurant" in Breaux Bridge since May 1980. She created Ms. G's Seasonings and was the author of Ms. G's Cookbook, where she shared her love of her Cajun heritage and recipes.
She will be deeply missed by family, friends and employees. Mulate's was an extension of her home, where she treated all like family. Goldie knew no strangers, only friends she hadn't met yet. She was kind and generous to all who crossed her path. The doors of her house were always open. All were drawn to her warm and inviting home where many fond memories were made.
Baking was a passionate way for her to touch others. Her goodies were shared by people near and far, for any mood or occasion.
She embraced the true talent of local upcoming artists as evidenced by her personal art collection. She had begun her own journey of creativity and expression in several paintings she completed and shared with family and friends.
Goldie was active in the civic community, having served on the Breaux Bridge Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She was presently serving and has served on the Louisiana Restaurant Association, Acadiana Chapter Board of Directors since 2005, during which years she received the Active Member of the Year Award and Restauranteur of the Year.
She was a benefactor and volunteer of Acadiana Outreach and supported many worthy causes throughout the Lafayette and Breaux Bridge communities, especially homeless and women's shelters. Goldie recently returned home from Honduras, where she assisted in a medical mission.
Goldie Comeaux enjoyed playing cards, scrabble and drinking wine with her friends and daughters.
