There is no cemetery monument marking the grave site for Ole. His death in Vernon township and burial at West St. Olaf was recorded in Norwegian in the pastor's Register of Deaths 1874 to 1918.

The State of Minnesota Certificate of Death indicates place of burial as West St. Olaf on June 28,1913

News articles are transcribed as they were printed.

June 2_, 1913

Ole Ronning Hyland, an old pioneer of Vernon township was found dead Wednesday morning at his home in that township. Heart failure was the cause of hs death. He was 80 years old.

July 4, 1913

Died the 25th day of June, Mr. Ole R. Hyland, aged 80 years, 6 months and 24 days. Heart failure caused the death. The funeral services were held at West St. Olaf's church Saturday by Rev. J.A. Thorson.

Ole was known as Ole Jonsen Ronning, Ole Johnsen, Ole Hjalland, Ole Ronning Hyland, Ole R. Hyland

On July 2, 1891, Ole J. Hjalland age 54, wife Aagot age 50, son John age 18, daughter Anne age 14, and sons Einar age 11 and Knud age 9 began their immigration to America. They left with prepaid tickets from Oslo, Norway aboard the ship Montebello and Quebec, Canada was their destination. (Source: FHL film #353094, page 274)

On July 9, 1891 they sailed from Liverpool, England aboard the ship S.S. Parisian of the Allan Line. The following day, July 10, the vessel left Londonderry, Ireland with more passengers and the ship arrived at Quebec, Canada on July 18, 1891 with a total of 514 passengers. I would speculate the family then traveled by railroad or the waterways to be reunited with their sons who had arrived earlier in America. Carl Johan, age 19, left Norway on 02 May 1884. His destination was Stoughton, Wisconsin

Ole, age 18, and Holje(Henry), age 16, had left Norway together from Oslo on April 17, 1885 aboard the ship Angelo and their destination was Stoughton, Wisconsin.

Nils, wife Liv, and children Aagot, Marit, Margit, and baby Hans (who was only a month old) arrived in New York on 23 May 1889.

On 28 July 1894, daughter Kari, her husband Svend Luraas, and their children Svend (Sam), Aagot (Olga), Sigre (Sarah), and Olaf (Ole) emigrated, leaving Norway from Oslo, then Christiansand and Nova Scotia.
