Dorothy was active in her community participating in the Red Hat Society, and enjoyed riding in the parades. She also enjoyed dancing with the senior citizen dance group "Dixie Hens." She loved the adventures that travel brought to her life and went on many cruises and traveled to countries around the world. One of her favorite trips was to Hawaii with other military widows. Other hobbies she took part in was reading mysteries, playing card games, and playing dominoes. Everyone who knew Dorothy says she was full of life, always made you laugh, and had a smile and love for everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Flowers.
Dorothy, known as Grannie to her family, is lived on by her daughter Gloria Jean Taylor and her son Thomas Joseph Flowers. She has many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She loved her active lifestyle and she is now dancing, laughing, and smiling down on us from heaven, no longer held down by her earthly body. "My chains are gone, I've been set free! My God, my Savior has ransomed me. And like a flood, his mercy reigns. Unending love, Amazing Grace."
