Obituary: His obituary was published in the Newport Daily News on 28 Jan 1965 in Newport, Rhode Island, USA.

G. P. Alexander, Carpenter 63
George P. Alexander Sr., 53, of 140 Van Zandt Ave., died this morning in Newport Hospital after a long illness. A retired carpenter, he worked at the Naval Torpedo Station and for local contractors. He was a 44 year member of the carpenters Local No. 176.

Mr. Alexander was born in Newport Feb. 21 1901, a son of James M. and Louise Hazard (sic) Alexander. His wife was the Iate Mrs. Mary Curran Alexander.

Surviving are a daughter, Miss Helen H. with whom he lived; two sons George P. Alexander Jr. and John F. Alexander, three sisters, Mrs. Marion Duncan, Mrs. Edith Logothets, and Mrs. Lillian Travis, two brothers, William J. Alexander and Albert J. Alexander, all of Newport and 11 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will take place Saturday from his home. A solemn high mass will be celebrated in St. Joseph's Church at 10 a. m. Burial will be in St. Columba`s Cemetery.

George Alexander Rites
The funeral of George P. Alexander, of 140 Van Zandt Ave., a retired carpenter, took place Saturday from his residence to St. Joseph's Church. The Rev. Michael Moakler celebrated a solemn high mass with the Rev. Edward D. Johnson as deacon, and the Rev. William Murphy as sub - deacon. Sisters of St. Joseph and a delegation from the Newport School Department attended the mass.

Burial was in St. Columba's Cemetery where Father Murphy read the committal service, Bearers were Nicholas Logothets Sr., a nephew; Adelbert Travis, a nephew; Nicholas Logothets Jr., a grandnephew Edward Harrington, Daniel Curran and Neil Butler.

CARD OF THANKS
The family of George P. Alexander Sr., daughter Helen H., George P. Jr., son, and John F. and family wish to thank all those who through their kindness in their hearts helped by their presence at the services in remembrance, and flowers to help him as well as us, the remaining family, eventually be brought to the peace of God, the Father In Heaven and to thanks Dr. Samuel Adelson and Dr. Charles Serbat and nurses, aides and medical attendants at Newport Hospital.
