She was born May 16, 1939 in McPherson, Kansas to Herbert Lee and Margaret M. (Smith) Smylie. She moved to Sedan in the early 1950's. She attended Sedan High School and later received her GED.
On November 23, 1955 she married Harold C. Bane and they later divorced. She later was engaged to Ronald Webb who preceded her in death on July 29, 2000.
She worked many jobs and was a caregiver for RCIL for 3 years and also worked at Mel' s General Store until her illness in 2008.
She was a member of the Sedan Red Hatter's Club. She enjoyed reading, collecting jewelry, angel figurines, and Mary Moo-Moo's.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda and husband Johnnie McNown of Sedan, Kansas; two sons, Leon and wife Nora Bane of Elgin, Kansas and Harold Lee Bane of Sedan, Kansas; one brother, Gary Smylie of Sedan, Kansas; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, companion Ronald Webb, and one brother Jimmie Smylie.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in Sedan, Kansas with Pastor Gordon Willhite of the First Christian Church officiating.
The family has suggested memorials to the Sedan High School Athletics Fund. Those remembrances can be left in care of the David W. Barnes Funeral Home, 209 N. Douglas, Sedan, Kansas 67361.
