Prior to their marriage in Key West, FL, Katie finished her environmental studies degree at PSU while Brian established a home for them in Orlando. Katie and Brian frequently volunteered with Keep Orlando Beautiful and Save the Manatee Club, to promote awareness of environmental issues and to participate in lake cleanups. Katie's passion for environmental education eventually led to the job of her dreams. As the Public Awareness Specialist for the Streets and Stormwater Division of the City of Orlando, Katie exhibited an unparalleled enthusiasm.
Katie enjoyed the outdoors, traveling the world, riding a bike on the Boardwalk at Ocean City, NJ, and just spending time with friends and family. Even from an early age, she was a talented singer and dancer. She was a gifted writer and always knew what to say. Katie's love for Jesus led her to help anyone in need of a shoulder to cry on or an ear to listen. Although she was with us for only a short time, her legacy will continue on.
As well as her family--to whom she was a devoted wife and a loving mother--Katie is survived by her parents; sister, Bernadette Dodd; nephew, Kellen Dodd; two grandmothers; three aunts; two uncles; and numerous cousins.
Memorial service and celebration of life, May 21, 2012, 5pm, University Carillon United Methodist Church, Oviedo, FL. Rev. Joe MacLaren officiating.
