Mrs. Rena Mell Teal Bennett, 84, died Friday (May 24, 2002) at the Satilla Regional Medical Center (Waycross) following a lenghty illness.

She was a native of Winder and resided in Henry County before moving to Waycross 25 years ago. She was the daughter of the late Melvin Charles Teal and Pearley Mae Kirk Teal. She was preceded in death by a son Jimmy N. Powell.

She was a homemaker and was a member of the Full Gospel Center.

The survivors include her husband, William Bennett of Waycross; six daughters, Ann Thrift (husband Rufe), Etta Hurst (husband Cecil), Faye Gilley all of Waycross, Martha Gilley of Stevenson, Ala., Tammy Melton (Charles) of Blackshear, Lisa Bryant (Jeff) of McDonald; a son, Bobby Joe Flanagan (wife Irene) of Folkston. 19 Grandchildren, 46 Great Grandchildren and three Great Great Grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday (May 27, 2002) in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. The burial will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday (May 28, 2002) in the Cedar Creek Cemetery in Winder. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 until 9 o'clock.
