Emma Elizabeth Baker was born October 14, 1918, in Narrows, Virginia, to her parents, Gilmer and Charmian Weatherly, and passed away May 27, 2011.
Emma lived in Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia throughout her lifetime. She graduated from Mars Hill College and then went to New Orleans Baptist Seminary and received a Masters Degree in Christian Service.
Emma married her loving husband, Dwight Baker on June 19, 1945.
They both served 27 years in devout service to the Lord as missionaries in Israel through the Southern Baptist
Foreign Board (now International Mission Board).
They served a total of ten years throughout India, Iran, Germany and the Philippines.
Emma was beloved to all who knew her, and in both Israel and India she was known for her generous and caring hospitality.
She was a wonderful lady, missionary, mother and wife.
She was a faithful servant of the Lord and exuded His very Spirit in every aspect of her life.
Emma and Dwight lived at Grace Presbyterian Village in Dallas, Texas.
Emma was predeceased by her son, Bron Baker.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dwight Baker; sons, Bill Baker of Waco, Texas, and Jon Stephen (Steve) Baker of Macau, China; daughter, Carol Staton of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Brent Baker, Scott Baker, Holly Johnson and Elizabeth Romero; great grandchildren, Christian Romero and Emmaline Baker.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Nazareth Evangelical Theological Seminary, Nazareth, Israel (through Dwight) or the Caring Fund, at Grace Presbyterian Village.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 3, 2011 at Cliff Temple Baptist Church in Dallas, TX, and at 2:30 PM, Friday, June 3, 2011 at Grace Presbyterian Village in Dallas.
